Dear Shia LaBeouf,

Please please please show up to our art show! We have been working for over two years to put together a performance art festival called Experimental Action. It is happening on February 23-25, 2017 and it is fueled by the love, blood, sweat and tears of the Houston underground art community. It features an amazing collection of groundbreaking local, national and international performance artists. We really respect the performance art that you and your collaborators, Nastja Säde Rönkkö, and Luke Turner have been doing. Obviously the incorporation of celebrity and social media into performance art has been inspiring. We would love nothing more than for you to come share some of your work with us. We think it is exceptional, interesting and aligns perfectly with the aims of our festival.

This is an official invitation to you (and/or your collaborators) to visit and/or perform in Experimental Action. Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a monetary stipend (despite the fact that you all totally deserve it). We ask that you do this for the sake of performance art, love, adventure and/or curiosity– those are the reasons we are doing it! Experimental Action aims to create a short term community in which the artists enjoy communal housing and meals (it is basically a performance art summer camp). We are happy to provide you (and/or your collaborators) with communal lodging and two communal meals a day for the duration of the festival. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help facilitate your attendance.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions.

Most sincerely,

The Experimental Action Team

(Julia, Evan, Jonatan, Jana, Jeremiah, Karren and all of the amazing volunteers and supporters that are making this festival happen!)

P.S. James Franco, if you happen to read this, know that we could possibly be persuaded to feature your performance art work as well.

P.P.S. Check out our promo video! Don’t you wanna hang with us?
