Experimental Action facilitates and shines a spotlight on experimental performance art that excites, inspires, and pioneers ideas. Showcasing both local and international artists, we aim to cultivate an environment of engagement and exchange that expands artistic possibility through progressive creative action while exposing Houston audiences to innovative performance art.
Experimental Action is a three day, innovative International performance art festival happening February 23- 25th of 2017 that will feature a collection of groundbreaking International and non local performance artists along with Houston-based performance artists. Each of the three nights will be hosted at a different downtown Houston venue and will consist of a series of engaging, participatory and experimental Performance Art works. Incoming performance artists will be speaking at area universities and leading workshops during the days. A symposium will be held at the Contemporary Arts Museum on February 25th to facilitate critical dialogue about the work presented. The festival creates a short term community. Through communal housing and meals, local artists and volunteers and incoming artists connect creating cultural exchange, lasting connections and future collaborations. The festival is curated and directed by Julia Claire Wallace and Evan McCarley.
